If you like German food this is for you. Even if you don’t like German food this is also for you!!! Our homemade menu includes: Sauerbraten, Bratwurst, Hähnchenschnitzel (Fried Chicken Cutlets), red cabbage and, of course, sauerkraut. Salad, apple strudel, beer and wine are included. For the safety of all the attendees you must be fully vaccinated to attend - cards will be verified at the door. We will also have to cap attendance at 70 people, so RSVP early. St. Dominic Council, Knights of Columbus will be conducting our Second Annual Backpack and School Supply Drive. We are collecting the following school supplies to give out to the needy in our parishes: Black Sharpies, Watercolor paint set, Colored pencils, Glue Sticks, Elmers Glue, Children’s scissors, Washable Markers/Thick and Thin, Dry Erase Markers, Plastic Folders (Clear, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Black), Highlighters, Marble notebooks 1, 2 ,3 and 5 subject spiral notebooks, 3 hole pencil cases, Post It notes, 1 inch and 1½ inch binders, Binder dividers, Large rectangular erasers, Child Smocks, Ear buds/ headphones, White Boards, White Out, Loose-leaf, Sketch pad, Book Sox, Baby wipes, Tissue Box, Storage Bags. Drop off Boxes are located at the following restaurants: Off the Rail, Wood and Fire, Southern Table, Prime Pizza and Gordo’s North. On May 31, 2020, at four years old, Owen was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Owen is a happy, energetic little boy who loves biking, swimming, snowboarding , Minecraft, Nerf guns, and the Avengers. He is being treated at Maria Fareri Hospital and has received over a dozen lifesaving transfusions. These have included blood, platelets and antibody transfusions. As Covid-19 forced the closure of hundreds of blood drives and postponed surgeries that are now being performed at increased demand, there is a desperate shortage of blood product. RELIEF FOR INDIA The Vicar General of the Archdiocese of New York, on behalf of His Eminence Cardinal Dolan, asked to consider helping the suffering Church in India due to COVID-19. Therefore, we will take up a special collection for this particular Intention next Sunday, July 18, 2021. Please be as generous as possible.
St. Dominic Council, Knights of Columbus is once again humbled and would like to thank all our parishioners for your donations and prayers. On May 22, 2021 we were again able to give out over 1,000 pounds of food, along with fresh meat and produce to the needy in town. Our next drop off and distribution will be Saturday, June 19th from 9:00am-1:00pm. We will gladly accept donations and will be giving food to the needy. The Knights will leave no Neighbor Behind! Neighbors helping Neighbors. Thank you again!
Fathers Day is Sunday, June 20th. Fathers Day Spiritual Bouquet Cards for the living and Fathers Day envelopes for the deceased are available at the entrances of the Church. Please return the envelopes in the collection basket or to the Rectory. All envelopes will be placed on our altar.
The Midnight Run Committee is planning a Run for June. We are requesting new and gently new jeans, hoodies not crew shirts, light weight jackets, sneakers, boots and back packs/knap sacks. Thank you for all you do to make feeding and clothing the homeless a success.
Couples of the Archdiocese of New York celebrating 50 years of marriage during 2021 are invited to attend the Golden Jubilee Wedding Mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 2:30pm. The Mass will be celebrated by His Eminence, Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, seating in the cathedral is limited. Pews will be reserved for golden jubilee couples only. Up to two (2) additional family and friends will be accommodated in pews outside of the reserved section in general seating. Couples will be notified if the seating capacity changes and more tickets become available. All Golden Jubilee couples will receive a commemorative certificate. Couples who are unable to attend Mass but are celebrating fifty years of marriage may also register with their parish to receive a certificate. All who wish to attend the Mass must register tomorrow, Monday, May 17, 2021. Please
Crayon Collection The Youth Group is collecting again this year for The Crayon Initiative! As you start to clean out your backpacks, classrooms, desks and lockers help us by donating your broken, used and/or unwanted crayons! The Crayon Initiative melts them, makes them into new crayons which are donated to children’s hospitals. Please drop your unwanted crayons in the collection bin @ 171 Astor Ave. in Hawthorne. FRONTLINE PREGNANCY CENTERS Empty baby bottles will be distributed after Masses on Saturday, May 8th and Sunday, May 9th. With your continued support, Holy Rosary Church will help these centers provide pro-life counseling, ultrasounds and prenatal care to girls and women who otherwise might choose abortion. EMC Pregnancy Centers have helped over 50,000 women choose life over the past 35 years. Baby bottles will be collected on Father's Day, June 20th. Thank you for your generosity. The Cardinal's Appeal Commitment is today, March 7th. For those of you who have pledged, thank you. I am asking anyone who has not responded to consider making a pledge using the envelope you received in the mail or using one from the Church vestibule. "All that we have" and "all that we are" are gifts from God and your commitment to sharing your time, talent and treasure with our community of faith here at Holy Rosary and our broader faith community through your pledge to the Cardinal's Appeal is greatly appreciated.
We at St. Dominic Council, Knights of Columbus, would like to thank all the parishioners and community members who supported our Toy and Veteran Gift Bag Drive. Thanks to your donations we were able to provide over 450 toys to over 85 needy children in town. We also are able to provide over 60 gift bags for our cherished Veterans in town. A special thank you to the Mount Pleasant PBA for your donations, as well as Modern Slice, Wood and Fire, Southern Table restaurants and Freedom Auto for collecting toys. Many thanks to Shop Rite for their donations. Thanks to the countless volunteers who collected, sorted and wrapped the toys. We are once again humble and amazed at your generosity and it is due to this special community that these families will have a Merry Christmas.
