WORLD MISSION SUNDAY TODAY, OCTOBER 19/20 FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CARDINAL:
Dear Friends in the Lord, One hundred years ago, Pope Benedict XV wished to give new impetus to missionary call to proclaim the Gospel. To mark this occasion, Pope Francis has called for the whole Church to observe an Extraordinary Missionary Month in October, which is World Mission month. Our archdiocesan family joins our brothers and sisters around the world who will gather at the altar to celebrate, with great joy, our common vocation as missionaries.
Our prayers and financial help, through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith support the work of the Mission Church, its witness to Christ and service to the poor. I echo the sentiment of our Holy Father, asking you to open your hearts as you connect with World Mission Sunday in every corner of the globe. Your generous support will help the Society for the Propagation of the Faith to continue to spread the Good News to the growing faith communities of our day. May it generate within us a renewed awareness of the need to proclaim the Gospel to all corners of the world.
With gratitude and prayerful best wishes, I am, Faithfully in Christ, +Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan
